Why is my server lagging?
Minecraft servers run at 20 Ticks Per Second (TPS). When ticks take longer than 50ms, TPS drops, causing rubberbanding and delayed block breaking.
Using the Spark Profiler
Spark is the modern gold standard for lag diagnosis.
- Install the Spark plugin or mod on your server.
- Start profiling during active player sessions:
/spark profiler start - Let it run for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Stop and upload the results:
/spark profiler stop - Open the generated link to inspect thread usage, tick duration, and identify problematic plugins or oversized mob farms.
